A new Overwatch character has just been introduced and she can be played on the PTR as of the moment.
This character is Ana, who happens to be Pharah’s mother. She is a sniper healer; probably an FPS-game first.
She wields a sniper rifle that is able to dispense healing rounds to her teammates. On the other hand, the Ana’s Sniper rifle can also deal damage to enemies as well and the good thing about it is that you do not have to change rounds ever as it both heals your teammates and damages the enemies at the same time.
Ana can also throw grenades. If you throw grenades to your teammates, they will be healed a certain percentage of their HP. If you throw grenades at your enemies, it will block their ability to get healed for a certain amount of time.
Since Ana is a sniper, a lot of heroes are going to go after her. Heroes like Genji and Tracer will surely be on Ana’s range.
To combat would-be attackers, Ana is given a sleeping dart which she can throw at her enemies to give them a dose of sleepiness for a period of time.
And lastly, Ana has an amazing support ultimate. Ana can give one of her allies a damage boost. It not only gives her ally an amazing damage boost but it also mitigates the amount of damage that character receives as well.
I think that Ana will become a tournament hero. I’ve had the privilege of using Ana and she is absolutely fun to play.
I am not usually a Sniper type of player because of the nature of the role, but Ana is easy to play for people who have already played FPS games before.
She has a lot of abilities to deter enemies from ever reaching her. And, although she doesn’t have escape abilities like that of Widowmaker’s left-shift, she does have a potent sleeping dart to keep enemies at bay.
But what is really enticing is Ana’s ultimate ability. Think of this as Lt. Morales’ stim ultimate in Heroes of the Storm; the only major difference being that the ally will get a damage boost instead of increased attack speed.
Now, a lot of people might say that Ana is too overpowered but that is not usually the case. Ana can be easily killed by other snipers (especially, Hanzo). Furthermore, if Ana is harassed by a Genji and a Tracer character at once, she will have a hard time dealing with them as she doesn’t have a close range weapon and the sleeping dart has a cooldown so you can only dispense one dart at a time.
Still, Ana is a great character and I think that a lot of people would be enticed to play the support role now.
Ana is still in the PTR and if you want to use her, you need to be patient as PTR servers are almost always busy.
There is still no specific release date for Ana and she will most likely be balanced before she gets released on the live servers.
Overwatch is Blizzard’s first-person shooting game and is available for the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 game consoles.
